Isa-bey's hammam (Turkish bath), also known
as the Emperor's hammam, is the oldest public
bath in Sarajevo, which was built by the third
bey of Ottoman Bosnia and chief founder of
Sarajevo and Novi Pazar Isa-bey Ishakovic.
The hammam was built near the Emperor's
mosque. It was mentioned in 1462 for the first
time. The hammam building was old and
damaged, and later on, completely ruined in
1889. |

It was constructed again in 1891 according to Josip Vancas' draft. One part of the building was built
according to old hammam model, while the other one is a modern bath of western type. During the
war in BiH, the hammam building was badly damaged by shells and it will be probably ruined,
considering that neither recovery activities were done after the war. |
